Top 4 Moments from the Super Bowl Halftime Show
Some people watch the Super Bowl for the game; others for the halftime show. And unless you were living under a rock Sunday, chances are you heard about Katy Perry’s “insane” halftime performance. With lions, sharks, guest performances and fireworks, this year’s halftime show was one of the best yet. In case you missed it, here are the top 4 moments from last night’s show:
- Katy Perry’s Giant Animatronic Lion
Who needs a stage when you have a giant animatronic lion? Riding in on a “blinged-out” lion, Katy Perry belted out “Dark Horse” and “Roar”. Perry said it would be a “wild” performance, and she definitely delivered on that promise.
- Lenny Kravitz “Kissed a Girl”
Okay, so technically Lenny Kravitz didn’t “kiss a girl” on stage, but he did join Katy Perry’s performance of her hit single. Kravtiz added a little rock ‘n’ roll to the pop star’s track. And of course, Lenny rocked his signature style – ripped jeans and a black leather jacket.
- Missy Elliot’s “Surprise” Appearance
By the time to halftime show came around, everyone knew about Missy Elliot’s “surprise” appearance. Someone let the cat out of the bag days before the game started. But that doesn’t mean that her performance wasn’t jaw-dropping. Missy performed “Work It,” “Get Ur Freak On,” and “Lose Control”.
- “California Gurls” and Dancing Sharks
Katy Perry promised everyone sharks – and sharks is exactly what she brought on stage. Well, sort of. For her performance of “California Gurls,” Perry sang alongside dancing sharks, palm trees and flying beach balls. But it was her backup dancers that got everyone talking. Dressed in the same polka dot bikinis Taylor Swift was spotted in, fans of the rivaling pop stars saw the gesture as a “diss,” subtly mocking Swift.
Just as Katy Perry made an unforgettable entrance, she made an unforgettable exit too. The pop star flew high above the stage attached to a sparkling shooting star for her performance of “Firework”.
