Lakers Redeem Themselves at Home in OT Win over Rockets

With the Los Angeles Lakers suffering a winter home losing streak swoon, the team felt fortunate that it was able to pull off an overtime win against the Houston Rockets by a score of 114-106.

In terms of individual contributions, Lamar Odom reentered the starting lineup and managed to put up 20 points and also pull down an equal amount of rebounds.  Kobe Bryant was able to contribute as well by scoring 32 points, shooting 13 of 25 from the field while also managing 11 assists.  Rounding out the effort was Pau Gasol who contributed four blocked shots, 16 boards and 26 points.

All in all it was a good turnaround for the team which had suffered recent embarrassing losses to the Kings and the Celtics.  Although the team did manage to put away the victory, it seemed to be in doubt late in the fourth quarter when the Rockets pulled ahead 68-63.  But, the team rallied and took the game to overtime where the Rockets ran out of steam and the Lakers closed with a 14-2 flurry.

Laker fans have plenty to be concerned about however.  With the Spurs continuing to play well, the likelihood of the Lakers maintaining home-court advantage throughout the playoffs is becoming increasingly remote.  If the team is not able to fare well against San Antonio in its upcoming series, any discussion of home-court is likely to be a moot point.
