The stand-alone episode sees Sherlock and his sidekick Doctor Watson aiming to solve their next mystery in 19th century London, ahead of the fourth series.

The clip indicates that the programme will take a darker turn, with Dr Watson questioning Holmes: “What made you like this?” Also, Watson says, “You’re Sherlock Holmes, wear the damn hat”, which is all we’ve ever wanted.

It features Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock and Martin Freeman’s Dr. Watson living in the world the characters were initially created in when Sir Arthur Conan Doyle originally wrote the material. “Sherlock Holmes has the manners of a Victorian gentleman which he doesn’t have in modern day, so he’s less brattish”, said Moffat.

Weve been hearing about the SherlockVictorian special for quite a few time now. The Sherlock Special will air on BBC One in the United Kingdom and PBS Masterpiece in the United States.

“It’s like we checked the books and discovered we’d set it in the wrong time period by mistake and it’s like we’re correcting it for 90 minutes”, Steven Moffat, executive producer and co-creator, previously told BBC News.

Mrs Hudson (Una Stubbs) and Inspector Lestrade (Rupert Graves) make an appearance too, with the land lady calling out to a unknown person.

Let’s hope this trailer gives us a little bit more!

And the dramatic scenes show a new side of the famed detective, as one fan wrote on Twitter: “sherlock looks / sounds / feels so DIFFERENT it didn’t even sound like him!!!!!?!&&!”.
