Amazon BuildingOne of the biggest hassles of using any home appliance is timing refills properly. For example, if you are using a washer and a dryer, you would need fabric softeners as well as liquid detergents. Most people deal with this by the seed of their pants. In other words, they run the risk of running out of these supplies because they are just too busy.

If you are like a typical American consumer, you have a lot of things going on and refilling your washer and dryer is probably the last thing on your list of things to do. This is why it is really worth paying attention to Amazon’s dash button. The dash button is a single plastic button that allows consumers to order with one click from Amazon (NASDAQ:AMAZN). Included with that button is a service called the “Dash Replenishment Service.”

Amazon has partnered with appliance manufacturers to make this particular technology come to life. These manufacturers have built-in replenishment detection mechanisms into their appliances. In this way, if your washer or dryer is running low on fluid, it would automatically re-order through the dash replenishment service. This is a very convenient technology and saves time and helps consumers avoid unnecessary stress and hassle.

Obviously, it is still in its early phase. However, it is definitely delivering all the hype of the so called ” Internet of things,” that we have heard from Google. This Amazon technology will definitely take that idea one step further. If this pants out as anticipated, a fully-wired home will happen sooner rather than later.
