The rush hour is going to be during the bridge repair
Pattullo Bridge is the 79-year-old construction that badly needed to be repaired.
However, be patient and prepare for some roadblock during the construction works.
It has a long history behind. The bridge was opened in 1937 year, even before the Second World War. This bridge is one of the oldest at the Lower Mainland.
It desperately needed to be repaired. The local government asks drivers to be patient as far as the works can take all summer. The bridge did not have major repairmen for a long time.
It will be closed on April 29, which will be Friday. It will be opened again on May 2. However, don’t be very happy. It will be just the first step when builders prepare everything for their work. The second step will be started from May 2 till September 30.
It will not be completely closed. A single road in both directions will be opened for drivers. Cars will move on two lanes, instead of four as they used two.
The Transportation Ministry made an official advertisement on their web-site about changes in the work of bridge. They also gave an advice to drivers who still will use the Pattullo Bridge to plan the time for the road as far as it can take much longer than it was before.
The Bridge connects Surrey and New Westminster. It stays on the Fraser River. TransLink asks the drivers to add up to 40 minutes into their schedule if they want to use this connection during the morning. In the evening, it can take from 10 to 30 extra minutes.
TransLink that owns that bridge asks everyone to be patient during next five months. They say that can help to commuters if it will be needed.
